While we still get used to the life with iOS 7.1, looks like the bosses at Cupertino are already a couple of steps ahead and planning for the future. In all probability Apple will release the iOS 8 sometime in the holiday season late at the end of the year with perhaps the iPhone 6 which is slated for a redesign and a much bigger size. After Apple gave up on Google Maps to introduce their own mapping solutions, there was an uproar of disappointment in the tech community simply cause the solution was not adequate. It was a joke that the most important app to download on iOS 6 and above was the Google Maps because Apple had screwed up so bad. This was one of the reasons cited for the exit of Scott Forstall too. But in iOS 8 Apple is looking to bring a major change to their native maps app.
Having spent a lot of money acquiring mapping solutions companies such as Broadmap, HopStop and Embark, Apple’s team lead by Craig Federighi, Eddie Cue and Gautier would be keen to make amends for their blunders. Although the map data is already improved in iOS 7, iOS 8 would bring a lot more enhanced data with added support for points of interests like parks, restaurants etc. The streets would be a lot more visible while there are said to be massive improvements in navigation too.
