Microsoft is all set to drop the much disliked Bing maps and welcome Nokia Maps on board for all their WP8 devices. Nokia maps have earned a lot of appreciations especially since they were launched with the Lumia range of devices. The maps are also expected to be available in the offline mode just like the Google maps as announced by Google recently. There is expected to be turn by turn navigation on board which is an
extremely good news for all those who are planning to get the Windows Phone 8.
The battle for the best maps certainly seems to be more intensified now more than ever with Google announcing some great features recently and then Apple moving to its own App for maps. Microsoft certainly seems to be jumping right into the mix with this announcement. There are also reports suggesting that the maps would have NAVTEQ Data as well as support for 3D. Map control for the developers is also expected to be added specifically for the developers.
This definitely makes the wait for Windows Phone 8 a lot more interesting as we are fairly confident that Nokia would do a good job, like they always have done with their maps. There was also report confirming that the new Windows 8 devices would have a new start up screen as well as a few other UI changes which definitely sounds very interesting.
