Windows 8 is probably the biggest revolutionary Windows that Microsoft has released since they moved from XP towards a more media centric Vista. Yes Vista did not do very well and quite frankly was horrible but it was a leap. Windows 8 brings to users the Metro UI i.e. the same interface that you see on the Windows Phone 7. It is a tile like structure with a zillion animations which basically overlays on your PC. The Windows 8 is expected to be launched around the third quarter of the year but we have already seen a few demonstrations here and
there to know the massive potential this has at least for the tablet market. However, if you want to try your hands right away without waiting for the full launch, you can download the Preview Edition of the Windows. It is extremely simple and all you have to do is head of to Microsoft’s site here and take it from there on. The final preview version is said to be a lot more stable and lots of bug fixing has already been done. You could also check out some of the applications such as Hotmail which would eventually ship with Windows 8.
As far as the PC requirements are concerned, you must have the following to run Windows 8 on your PC:
Processor: 1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster
RAM: 1 gigabyte (GB) (32-bit) or 2 GB (64-bit)
Hard disk space: 16 GB (32-bit) or 20 GB (64-bit)
Graphics card: Microsoft DirectX 9 graphics device with WDDM driver
Additional Requirements:
To use touch, you need a tablet or a monitor that supports multitouch.
To access the Windows Store and to download and run apps, you need an active Internet connection and a screen resolution of at least 1024 x 768.
To snap apps, you need a screen resolution of at least 1366 x 768.
